Walking Tour: Zunil to Fuentes Georginas Reserve

If the kind of hike you want is a leisurely one, then we heartily recommend this mini-adventure. Our main destination is the hot springs las Fuentes Georginas, but afterwards we will also visit many of the sights around the small town of Zunil, located about 25 minutes from Quetzaltenango. On the way to las Fuentes, a 2 hour hike up a gentle hill, we will enjoy many views of the colorful fields around Zunil. After relaxing in the natural hot springs, we will visit the church of Maximon, also known as San Simon, local Mayan deity often visited by both locals and Guatemalans from all over the country. We’ll also visit the Santa Ana textile cooperative where we will see the complex textiles produced by local women. The tour of Zunil will finish with a visit to the catholic church.
